March 3rd, 2008 Sorry for the late updates guys! A speaker from Tech Career Services came in to discuss StrengthsQuest with us for Chapter, make sure you fill that out if you haven’t already, we’ll be using that information during our brotherhood retreat (April 4th). The web address is http://www.strengthsquest.ttu.edu . The Dad’s Weekend/Alumni golf tournament is piecing together well and each detail has been laid out. The golf tournament will be held on March 29th at Lake Ridge Country Club (82nd & Slide), with the price being $60 per golfer. Please notify Ryan Trask or Cody Marts if you will be attending. If you sign up to attend and end up no-showing fines will be assessed. The formal invitations will be sent out this week to all alumni, that means if you want your dad to come, you’ll have to invite him yourself. Blackfoot/Whitefoot party will be tomorrow (Friday) at the Sigma Nu lodge. Dress is black or white clothing so do what you can with that. We’ll have a barbeque Saturday @ 6:30 at Sean/Josh/Mason’s and a lot of the recruits will be out for that, make sure you make an appearance. The pledge party will be March 28th (night before Alumni), put on entirely by the pledge class. The theme is to be determined. There will be no fundraising this weekend. That means have fun and above all be safe. L&R February 11th, 2008 Tonight was the dinner with Delta Gamma and it went fantastic. Great job guys! We represented ourselves very well. Onto basketball news, both teams dominated in their games last night. “A” team beat Alpha Gamma Ro 48-8 and “B” team won over Theta Xi 47-6. Way to go men. Big/Little bros have been chosen and there will be a big/little ping-pong tournament Feb 23rd in the rec. The Beta pledge class continues to tour the sorority houses and collect canned-foods for donation. They are doing a fantastic job and getting quite the turn-out. We know the reputation starts with the pledge classes and there are making a fine first impression. We’re proud of our pledges! There will be an alumni event following the UT basketball game on March 1st. The venue will be The Fox and the Hound (82nd and Quaker). Once again the dress will be work casual; (polo/button-down and slacks) so make sure you represent yourself and the fraternity well. Sign up for relay for life at http://events.cancer.org/rfltexastechtx . Theme will be George of the Jungle so it should be a lot of fun running around in jungle attire. All members must have ALL INSURANCE paid off by THIS FRIDAY. Make sure you get your money in. We’re doing the phonebook fundraiser again this weekend so make sure you get some work in with that if you haven’t already. There are already people who have been doing multiple routes, with more than half of the chapter not involved at all! Let’s get it done men. Brotherhood dinner will be at George’s (off 50th) at 7 PM on Tuesday. Until next week,
February 4th, 2008 This will be our first addition to the announcements segment on the new website! Officially the new Web Mastering staff has been announced: Ben Cirksena, Andrew Ford, and Colin Niebergal are all being led by Clayton Stringer. We have all been working really hard on updating and renovating the site to bring it back up to potential. Further news, the try-out schedule for the intramural basketball team has been posted, everyone that wants to try out for the basketball “A” team must be at the try-outs, otherwise you will be placed on the “B” team. Thank you to Andy Wooley’s dad for the amazing new Under Armour jerseys, our boys will be looking quite nice. To all those that are looking for scholarships, they are readily available through the ATO Nationals site. The link to the site is on the bottom of the navigation bar found on the left of the website. Be ready for the Delta Gamma dinner next chapter, the dress will be slacks and polo. We have to make a good showing for these girls, they are getting Rosa’s catered and we have to show great appreciation; be on your best behavior. Austin has assembled a fund raising opportunity this weekend to deliver phone books. This is an easy and profitable event that should make us some easy money. The money we raise will be used to send as many men to congress as possible. Remember men, congress is one of the greatest opportunities you can have as an ATO and we want as many people as possible there to experience it. We voted on the Initiation Attendance/ Involvement/ Scholarship by-laws in chapter all of which passed. We then nominated one new member to the Judicial Board – Todd Buckingham. Congratulations to him! Keep checking back for more updates each week. Love & Respect, Ben Cirksena |
